The National Autism Association (NAA) of Central Texas is having a six week Job SkillsSummer Sampler Pilot in the months of July and August.  The program will concentrate on teaching seven different micro businesses: Landscaping, Doggy Daycare, Painting, Catering, Car Detailing or Locksmithing, and Artistry, with a wild card week at the end customized to the individual.    All seven programs will concentrate on learning job skills as well as learning what it takes to turn those skills into a micro business. 

Applicants should be no younger than 15 years of age and able to learn with a ratio of two clients to one job coach.  Applicants need not have a diagnosis of Autism or Asperger's Disorder to join us in this program.  Any level of function is accepted.  You are welcome to bring your own job coach or attendant along for half price.

How often do our kids get to try out multiple career choices?   Just about any teenager would enjoy such a program.  One week they will be chefs,  one week artists, one week painters, one week doggy day care owners, and one week car detailers or locksmiths. Fridays they will be farmers/landscapers.  Even if your child does not choose to have their own business, this program will be an enriching experience.

We will have specialists from the seven different areas as well as experienced job coaches involved in hands on job training in all seven areas with site visits to businesses in the areas.  The class will include a half day training session for the guardians and clients on how to run a micro business and DARS will give a presentation on how they can help.

• Private Pay Price:  $1200 for the 6 week program. 
• $600 if the client bring their own HCS/CLASS/Tx Home Living Coach.
• Non-refundable deposit due by June 5, 2009, $250.
• No breaking up of the program.
• HCS/CLASS/Texas Home Living reimbursement deducted from price.
• Difference between above named reimbursement and $1200 due on first day of class.
